Is there any way to avoid traffic getting into the amusement park?
You can’t wait to get inside the theme park and enjoy a full day of rides and fun, so waiting in traffic can be a downer. Luckily, there are a few ways to possibly beat or even avoid traffic.
- Great America provides a drop-off area for cars coming into the park but not staying.
- If you are visiting the area, there are several Gurnee hotels within walking distance of Six Flags, and other nearby hotels like The Holiday Inn Gurnee offer complimentary shuttle service.
- Use the back entrance. Most out-of-town visitors don’t realize this, but 6 Flags Great America in Gurnee has two parking entrances: the main entrance on Grand Avenue and a second entrance on Washington Street.
- Plan your visit when the crowd attendance is usually lighter: weekdays during the summer and any regular operating day during the months of May, June and September.
- Arrive early and beat the crowd. The parking lot opens one hour before the park opens for the day and the ticket booth opens 3o minutes before the park is fully operating.
